On-Mountain Snowmass is the largest of the four ski areas. It is located 9 miles from Aspen and is known as a great family resort. The town of Snowmass Village has been undergoing a lot of changes in recent years. New for the 2007-2008 ski season is the Treehouse Kids' Adventure Center located just below the Village Express (six pack) chairlift. The 17 million dollar facility features themed rooms for different ages, kid's rentals, tickets, lessons and retail shop. Basically it has everything from an indoor climbing gym to easy access to the lifts. Also new is the Elk Camp Meadows Learning Area located at the top of the Elk Camp gondola.
Snowmass Mountain Employee Party Every spring after the lifts close to the public the ski areas have parties for their employees. The festivities at Snowmass Mountain include pond skimming (skiing or snowboarding across an icy pond), a team tubing race and more. To attend one of these parties go to www.jobswithaltitude.com and get a job with the Aspen Skiing Company.
