Located a few miles outside the town of Marble is the Yule marble Quarry. The marble mined here was used for the exterior of the Lincoln Memorial and for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and many other municipal buildings in New York and San Francisco. It is highly prized world wide for it's quality and color by fabricators and artisians alike. The large blocks of marble seen here are scrap stone — fractured or containing undesirable characteristics that make them unmarketable.
Unfortunately, the hiking trail is currently closed.
