Road to Castle Peak and Montezuma Basin
Montezuma Basin and its popular snowfield for summer skiiing lies out of view just around the corner. Oh, so close but this was as far as our 12 year old would go. She was complaing about the lack of trees which was the perfect segway for the parent to talk about alpine tundra and treeline. Here's some interesting history about skiing on the basin >click here. Look accross the valley and you'll notice Pearl Pass. Yes, there is a road skirting up that face!
