Snowmass Village Mardi Gras
This Aspen area ski resort and town of 1,800 residents hosts one of the biggest and most authentic Fat Tuesday celebrations in the state - one that easily earns its nickname: Mardi Gras of the Mountains. But no one in Snowmass ever intended - or expected - Mardi Gras to grow as big as it has become. Started by a group of visitors from New Orleans, it grew organically every year, until it became the full-scale celebration, planned months in advance, that it is now.
