The Red Onion on the Cooper Street Mall

Latest News 07/09: It ain't gonna happen. Lease has been terminated! Read the full story in Aspen Daily News. Old News: Snow covered in winter, the Cooper Street mall is home to a variety of clothing, restaurants, jewelry and art galleries. We expected a new look inside the Red Onion for the 2008/09 winter season as it reopens under new ownership and remodel as Junk at the Red Onion. The front half of Junk at the Red Onion will give a nod to the past, with old boxer photos, a restored historic bar, a tin ceiling and other Aspen artifacts. There will be a second bar in the back portion of the restaurant, which will have oak floors. The new proprietor, Scott DeGraff, noted that most of the old tile throughout the bar area was destroyed over time and couldn’t be salvaged but some has been restored.
The antique poster Omnibus Gallery [right with window shoppers] will likely close in the near future blaming spiralling rents.
